I recently saw a social media trend that asked "Can you share something you accomplished this year or something you're proud to look back on?". Here is my response:

This year, I did the hardest therapeutic work of my life. I’ve been in therapy for 9 years, and this summer my therapist told me she’d be leaving the practice in the fall—meaning we had 4 months left together. I really valued our connection and felt safe being completely honest with her, so I used that time to dive into my deepest fears, traumas, and regrets—the stuff I’ve held inside for years… Stuff not even my husband knew.

Every week for 4 months, I faced these heavy, painful topics head-on. Some days, I’d come home and uncontrollably cry for an entire day or more; it was emotionally exhausting, and sometimes I’d get physically sick too. But I did it. That work ripped me apart and put me back together—and it transformed me. I’m proud of myself for facing it.
