Tucked away in Athens, Georgia, one of my favorite spots is the Sandy Creek Nature Center. My connection with this place goes way back to the days when Jasmine (who was a baby at the time!) and I would roam its lovely trails together.
From my earliest memories, the woods have been a safe haven; a place that still gives me those comforting feelings even in adulthoodā¦Ā
Now, after a good 10 years, I find myself living just a hop, skip, and jump away from this natural gem. It's not just Jasmine and me anymore that call this place a second home; Barry does too!
Imagine this: lazy walks with nature's soundtrack playing, coffee in hand, followed by nice chats on a park bench. Currently, we reminisce about the days when we used to wander around the calm pond, watching the graceful blue heron and exploring the remnants of the Georgia Brick Factory.Ā We havenāt been able to walk that far, due to health conditions, but weāre looking to get back at it.Ā
As seasons change, so do our dreams. Our latest one? Getting bicycles to cruise down the scenic North Oconee River Greenway trail, which conveniently has a trail head at Sandy Creek Nature Center. Looking forward to riding our bikes through the beautiful scenery not only keeps us pumped for the adventures ahead but also adds the nice touch of getting a bit of exercise.
